In this presentation, Andy Kirk describes seven different roles in visual design. I noticed that I am also looking for a job description of what exactly I do: information designer, visual story maker, design/visual researcher? But with data stories. Are those different ‘hats’ really necessary? And if there is overlap – it seems that way in his presentation – why not an overlap between journalist, scientist, data analyst and designer? I’m a bit in between… It’s of course about the collaboration between all these ‘hats’, but I still find those boxes difficult.
